Jewellery Plus initiated a safe
grad donation program for the first time earlier on in the 2001-2002
school year. The president of Jewellery Plus, Philip Sullivan said He
wanted to find a way to give back to local high school grads for all of
the tremendous support over the year.
Jewellery Plus
is Island owned and operated with two locations, one in Summerside and one
in Charlottetown. We currently have one staff member dedicated to going
out to island high schools to show grad rings and I was looking for a way
to pay back the Island schools and students that have supported our
business over the past years, said Mr. Sullivan. So after discussing the
situation with a few staff members I decided to initiate a donation
program for the 2001-2002 school year. Any grad ring purchased from
Jewellery Plus over the school year was entitled receive up to 5% of the
purchase price in a donation to the students applicable high school safe
grad program. Plus the high school with the highest percentage of grads
who purchased rings from Jewellery Plus was entitled to a $100.00 bonus,
with the winner this year being Morrell Regional High School at 21.5%.
The first year turned out to be a great success
and Jewellery Plus made a total donation of $688.05 distributed between 11
high schools on PEI. The program takes quite a bit of specific book
keeping on our end but it feels good to give back to those who support us
and we look forward to continuing this program in the future says Mr.
Sullivan.
