The Ashberg diamond is one of the world’s famous yellow diamonds. This amber-colored, cushion-shaped diamond weighs102.48 carats, and was formerly part of the Russian Crown Jewels. The diamond was purchased and named by Olof Ashberg, a Swedish banker and businessman in 1934. In 1959 it was sold to a private buyer who bought it anonymously. The diamond resurfaced again in 1981when it came up for sale at a Christie's auction in Geneva. It failed to reach its reserve price and was withdrawn.
